Abstract
The Pathogenesis of bleeding tendency and hemorrhagic manifestations was not known
and there hart been controversial results on coagulopathy in Korean hemorrhagic fever.
Recent studies on the change of coagulation system suggests that disseminated
intravascular coagulation stays a role in the pathophysiology of this disease. To
determine the nature and extent of bleeding tendency in Korean hemorrhagic fever, the
author was evaluated serial changes of fibrinogen, blond clotting factors ¥±, ¥´, ¥¶, ¥·,
¥¸, and ¥¹, prothrombin, time, partial thromboplastine time, thrombin time, bleeding time,
euglobulin lysis time, fibrinogen/fibrin degradation product in serum and urine in 27
young male patients admitted at Korean hemorrhagic fever center at Capital Amed
Forces General Hospital from November 15 1979 to December 15, 1978. Disseminated
intravascular coagulation wart diagnosed by Colman's criteria in 14 of 27 patients during
the initial 4-10. days of their illnesses, with following conclusions.
1. Disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC) develops early in the course of Korean
hemorrhagic fever.
2. evidence of DIC disappears so quickly that to understand the coagulopathy Precisely
coaulation tests should be performed serially from early stages.
The controversial results on coagulation abnormalities in this disease among the
Previous reports seers to be in part relate to the difference during the illness at the
time of coagulation studies.
